The findings are based on a study conducted this month by pollster SW Research for insurance company Wiener.

The study used the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method and involved 1,042 respondents.

Thirty-one percent of respondents participating in the online survey said they have planned a domestic trip during the May long weekend, while 9 percent plan to go abroad.

Fifteen percent of those surveyed will take advantage of offers planned by travel agencies, and 8 percent of those who want to travel will organize the trip on their own.

With May 1 (Labor Day) and May 3 (Constitution Day) public holidays approaching, many workplaces are giving their employees time off to enjoy what has become known as the May long weekend.

Almost every other person planning a trip this year will spend less than PLN 1,000 (EUR 230, USD 250) per person on the May trip.

One in three respondents (31 percent) plans to spend between PLN 1,000 and PLN 2,000 per person during the May weekend.

Fourteen percent of Poles will be able to afford more expensive trips.

Although Poles tend to be thrifty when it comes to spending on the May weekend, they are expected to spend more than two years ago.

In 2022, only 10 percent of those polled could afford to spend more than PLN 2,000 for this purpose, and 26 percent of respondents could afford a trip worth between PLN 1,000 and PLN 2,000.

According to data from the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) office, 19.1 million Poles traveled during the May long weekend in 2022, spending a total of PLN 86.6 billion on travel during this time.

This amount was allocated for a total of 74.4 million tourist trips, of which 61.2 million were domestic trips.
